Used Boat Bits was created for boaters by boaters to solve the common problem of trawling through auction sites that weren’t boat specific to find the part they needed.
The guys at Used Boat Bits approached us to custom develop a market place, similar to eBay, to buy and sell used boat parts. The website was built from scratch with a Content Management System linked to an eCommerce solution. This meant users could sign up and add items for sale whilst other users could bid to purchase it. It was a large and complex system that had handle commission sales, exchange rates and delivery for 6 different countries across the world.
We wanted to create a tailored and personal experience for each user by only displaying content most relevant to them. To do this we automatic detect the users location and produce items that are closest to them. Having users from the US, UK, Australia and South Africa made this an extremely important feature.
Security and payment processing was also another key feature – making sure both the seller and Used Boat Bits got paid at the same time, whilst adhering to the relevant legislation in the various jurisdictions.
All of this clever functionality was wrapped up in a clean and simple interface that works just as well on mobile as it does on a desktop computer.
